Prescon Engineering performs a variety of power system analyses, including short circuit, protective device coordination and arc flash studies, in addition to documentation updates. All of our power system analyses are designed to maximize power quality, improve power system performance and reliability, system coordination and increase personnel safety.
The power systems analysis experts at Prescon enable efficient, economical use of power by using field measurements and computer modeling to analyze power system
Our extensive experience in the electrical power distribution industry, in combination with the latest engineering software, produces electrical engineering documentation of the highest quality. Our team of expert engineers utilizes the industry’s most popular electrical engineering software – ETAP. The combination of ETAP and our years of experience in power system testing and maintenance, enables us to provide power system studies you can place complete confidence in.
Load flow
A base study is performed to determine the steady- state operating characteristics of the electrical system.
Transient motor starting
This study examines how the electrical system will react when individual motors are started or when groups of motors are started simultaneously.
Short circuit
The calculations of fault-current levels at all buses in the system are studied to minimize the consequences of a potential short circuit in the system.
Protective device coordination study
Protective devices, such as circuit breakers, fuses, and relays, are examined and properly coordinated to protect personnel and equipment.
Harmonic study
This study is recommended on systems that have 20% or more nonlinear loading produced by equipment such as variable-speed drives, arc welders, and fluorescent ballasts.
